ACAP 2024 Health Fair-Flushing

The Association of Chinese American Physicians (ACAP), in collaboration with the iBridge Foundation, NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, and several health insurance companies and healthcare organizations, successfully held the 2024 Community Health Fair on May 19th (Sunday) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Flushing Kissena Corridor Park. Congresswoman Grace Meng, Councilwoman Sandra Ung, Senator John Liu’s office representative, and Assemblyman Lester Chang’s representative, Dr. Philip Wang, attended and inaugurated the event.

Our 2024 Community Health Fair provided rich and diverse programs to Flushing community members, including six free health lectures covering different specialties. Neurologist Dr. Qingliang Tony Wang discussed stroke prevention and treatment; internist Dr. Li Lu talked about hair loss issues; urologist Dr. Yongpeng Gu explained kidney and ureteral stones; internist Dr. Wei Liu introduced the latest cancer screening guidelines; internist Dr. Jia Hong discussed sarcopenia and frailty in the elderly; and internist Dr. Jing Xu explained vaccines needed for adults.

This year’s Community Health Fair received strong support from various sectors of society. The Charles B. Wang Community Health Center provided free blood pressure measurements and hepatitis B screenings. Several medical institutions, insurance companies, pharmacies, and community organizations set up booths to educate the public about health and distribute small gifts.

Dr. Jin Li, president of ACAP, pointed out that health issues have become more of a focus post-pandemic. Except for 2020, when it was paused due to the pandemic, the annual “Community Health Fair” has been very popular, with enthusiastic participation every year. After the pandemic, the public can participate more in community activities to gain more health information. Over 400 people attended the ACAP 2024 Community Health Fair that day, obtaining a lot of health information and consulting with doctors.

Other participants and sponsors of the event included: Affinity by Molina Health Plan, Alpha Law LLC, Aurinia, Bank of America, CAIPA, CANA, CaringKind, Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, Compu21, Elder Plan, Gilead Sciences, Health First, Health Need Urgent Care, Humana, Jade Stone Real Estate Consulting Inc., LANtern, Main Street Radiology, NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, Northwell Health-Asian Liver Health Program, Queens Surgical Center, Quest Diagnostics, Rendr, Starside Drug, VillageCareMax, and VNS Health.
