The The Association of Chinese American Physicians (ACAP) will hold a small health lecture on July 18th (Tuesday) from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in Meeting Room 3 on the 3rd floor of the Flushing Library. The theme of this lecture is “Characteristics of Osteoporosis in Asian-Americans: How to Prevent, Screen, and Treat.”
Osteoporosis, often referred to as the “silent killer,” is a common condition that many people mistakenly believe only affects the elderly, and they think that simply supplementing calcium and vitamin D is sufficient. However, osteoporosis can occur in some younger individuals, and the Asian-American population has unique characteristics related to the incidence, screening, and treatment of osteoporosis.
Hip fractures caused by osteoporosis are often referred to as the “last bone fracture in life” due to a mortality rate of over 30%. To provide clarity and answers regarding osteoporosis, ACAP has invited Dr. Ziqiang Zhu, an internist in Flushing, to speak.
Dr. Ziqiang Zhu, an internist in Flushing, will be the keynote speaker for this health lecture. He graduated from Zhejiang University School of Medicine and Peking Union Medical College and conducted postdoctoral research for several years at the University of Louisville and the National Cancer Institute in the United States. During this time, he participated in multiple clinical trials, published research papers in various international medical journals, and was invited to speak at international conferences. Dr. Zhu completed his internal medicine residency training at Brookdale Medical Center in New York, obtaining specialized diplomas from the American College of Physicians and the American College of Obesity Medicine. He runs an internal medicine clinic in Flushing and is also an attending physician at the Mount Sinai Health System and New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Currently, he is a member of the board of directors of the The Association of Chinese American Physicians.
Everyone is welcome to attend this health lecture. Thank you!
