The Association of Chinese American Physician (ACAP) will host a small health lecture on December 18th (Monday) from 3 pm to 5 pm in the meeting room on the 3rd floor of Elmhurst Library. The lecture will be hosted by Dr. Kevin Tin, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist from ACAP, and the topic will be Get the Facts on Colon Cancer Screenings. The lecture is sponsored by MetroPlusHealth.
Globally, colon cancer is often ranked high among various types of cancers. Dr. Kevin Tin will discuss the importance of colon cancer screening. Colon cancer screening allows doctors to detect abnormalities early, thereby increasing the success rate of treatment and survival rate for patients. By developing personalized screening plans and conducting regular screenings, colon cancer can be captured before symptoms appear, enabling early intervention, reducing patient suffering, and improving quality of life. The specific screening methods should be determined based on individual factors such as risk factors, age, and family medical history. It is important that, for individuals of appropriate age, regular colon cancer screening is an effective preventive measure.
Dr. Tin is proud of his Chinese heritage and his local training. He bridges communication and cultural barriers to obtain appropriate competent care in a community with many stomach, liver, and intestinal illnesses and cancer.
